Slovenia is sometimes known as the “sunny side of the Alps” because, although a good part of it is mountainous, the coastline areas are warm and sunny. The landscape of Slovenia is made up of limestone caves, forests, mountains, and wetlands, and many protected animal species live in the wilderness areas.
